Vegan Boston Baked Beans {Small-Batch}

The flavors of molasses and hickory smoked sea salt blend perfectly in these baked beans. Plus, this recipe is healthier than the original and comes together faster too, making it a fabulous side dish.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 g) Great Northern beans (or navy beans)
  • Water
  • 1 medium-large onion, diced
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) molasses
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (use vegan to keep this dish meat-free)
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ¾ teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • ¾ teaspoon hickory smoked sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
