Wreath & Centerpiece: A Celebration of Red, White & Blue

I thought I would share a couple of red, white and blue decorations for Independence Day! I like the patriotic holidays; my mother was born on the 4th of July, so it was always a double celebration around our house. The combination of red, white, and blue is pretty in its own right, and, with the Stars and Stripes a focal point from Memorial Day through Flag Day and Independence Day to Labor Day, is an icon of summer!

For this Independence Day, I've taken blue burlap and created an airy wreath that includes all of the holiday colors, but not in an expected arrangement. The iridescent ribbons float around the soft arc of the burlap loops, and a cluster of snow-white florets with ruby hearts anchors the lower half. The base wreath can be used for other projects, with the removal of the red and blue ribbons. I created the white flower cluster out of white paper doilies and clear glass beads that I colored red with a marker. A white tulle bow serves as the hanger.
