Ingredients

  • 1 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (not dutch processed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or canola oil, or melted coconut oil)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup freshly brewed strong hot coffee
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3½ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons heavy cream
