Rice Dream Sundaes

My kids think I’m hard of hearing.  But really, their unhealthy requests get auto-translated by my brain into healthier fare.  When they ask for Ice Cream, naturally, I assume they mean a bowl full of “Rice Dream” (ha ha).  Do they protest? Yeah. Do I care? Not so much. They know we don’t have any ice cream, nor will I head out to the store to satisfy their cravings.  Most of the time, they just like to ask for things they know I don’t buy.

But what I do buy is rice. And we’ve been incorporating fruit into our rice lately for a refreshing summer treat!  This is white rice, but we’ve also tried it with some brown rice with crushed pineapple and coconut a few days ago that turned out divine.  Yesterday, we added cherry sauce! Wow!  My daughter almost ate the entire *Rice Dream Banana Split Sundae * herself!

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups water
