Growing up my mother (or mami as we call her in Spanish) always had a warm meal ready for us. Even when she worked for long hours and on her feat all day, she made sure we had a home cooked meal. She hardly ever used processed ingredients (Mexican cooking relies heavily on fresh ingredients), and only now-and-then did we get fed fast food or take out. My eldest sister would often step in to help with the cooking and we all had assigned chores. Even so, I often wonder how mami had the energy for working, cooking and cleaning for our family of 8. My sisters are all wonderful mothers. And I can see that they work just as hard to provide for their babies in every which way, just like our parents did.
