When the book “Maud: A Novel Inspired by the Life of L.M. Montgomery” by Melanie Fishbane landed on my desk at the newspaper, my interest was piqued. I love “Anne of Green Gables,” by L.M. Montgomery and have read several of its sequels too. And I was already looking forward to the Netflix series “Anne with an E.”
Still, it took me a little while to pick it up and begin reading. Many, many books cross my desk at work, and I have to prioritize the ones by Maine authors, since that’s what I write about there. And many more books join my reading pile just because I want to read them.
