Do you love a good poke cake? I took one of my favorite childhood recipes and converted it to this Crock Pot Cream Soda Poke Cake. Yum!

Aunt Lou here.
Growing up, I had three favorite desserts…Dirty Pudding (with gummy worms, of course!), Persimmon Pudding and Big Red Poke Cake. I have distinct memories for each of these desserts. Dirt Pudding at an outdoor pitch-in at mom and dad’s house. It was in a flower pot with a fake flower stuck in the middle and gummy worms looking like they were coming in and out of the “dirt”. Persimmon Pudding was the dessert of choice for the church ladies who brought copious amounts of food to our house after a drunk driver drove straight into our house when I was a child. And last, but most certainly not least, I remember Bear (obviously, this is a nickname…I didn’t know his real name until I was in my late 20’s!) bringing Big Red Poke Cake to a pitch-in (aka a potluck to people who don’t live in Southern Indiana). I had no idea what it was, but loved it from the very first bite! Since not everyone is lucky enough to have Big Red sold near them, Cris and I thought that we’d name this Crock Pot Cream Soda Poke Cake so that more people could make it. However, if Big Red is sold near you, use it! It is awesome!
