In the world of convenience foods, I know a lot of people depend on those packets of taco seasoning mix found in a taco-in-a-box kit or singles sold in the baking aisle of grocery stores to boost the flavor of browned ground beef for a favorite Mexican weeknight dinner staple. But guess what? You can do a D.I.Y. and make your own taco seasoning. It’s easy, delicious and best of all, homemade. And, in my opinion, much, much better than anything you can buy from a store.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground paprika
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of sugar
