Today’s post comes from 30,000 feet in the air, on my flight home from Dallas, Tx. Our takeoff this evening was delayed on the runway, because we had to wait for a couple other planes before we could take off. I could feel myself start to drift to a feeling of annoyance, until I heard the conversation going on behind me.
As we waited the extra 20 minutes for takeoff, a little boy behind me said, “Dad! What’s taking us so long?!”
This wise father responded differently than I expected, and I found myself listening in on the rest of their conversation. “Son” he said, “There are other planes that need to takeoff. We are waiting for our turn. This life is all about learning to wait in line.”
