I love me a good diet book.
I know that’s kind of weird, but in my long and sometimes tumultuous relationship with food, having someone write a book telling me exactly what to eat and how has often been comforting for me.
We won’t go too far into the fact that most of them don’t work for a myriad of reasons.
The best ones, however, are a lot more general, more lifestyle books than diet books, with excellent guidelines of what and how to eat, and no super-restrictive eating plans or programs. I’m thinking of excellent recent titles like Michael Polan’s Food Rules and Mark Bittman’s Food Matters .
