French Toast

Thick slices of Challah bread, soaked in egg beaten with milk and cinnamon, fried in butter and served with delicious Canadian maple syrup.

This doesn’t happen very often, but some days I actually wake up before my alarm goes off. Today was one of those days. I woke up 45 minutes earlier.

What to do with all this extra time?

You make French toast. That’s right. I still had some challah bread that I made over the weekend so I knew this would be a great bread for this.

I don’t normally make French toast, usually if I go out for breakfast I would prefer Belgian waffles instead. However, my sister’s favorite breakfast is French toast. Whenever we go out anywhere for breakfast she always orders it and she makes it quite often too. She probably makes one of the best French toasts out there.


  • ⅔ cup of milk
  • 8 slices of 2 day old bread, preferably thick slices
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • butter
  • maple syrup
  • fresh berries (optional)
