Kitchen sink chocolate bark is the perfect way to use up all of those leftover ingredients from holiday baking projects that we all have laying around. The broken candy canes, the sad marshmallows, the random tupperware of coconut….let’s turn those into a sweet Valentine’s sweet! All you need to do to make this happen is rifle through your pantry, melt some chocolate and prepare to get a little messy.
Sometimes I end up with all sorts of bits and bobs in my cupboard that are in amounts just small enough to be unusable in any specific recipe. Handfuls of leftover shredded coconut, the last bit of dried cranberries, and some semi-sad marshmallows left over from Christmas. You know what makes all these things come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts? Chocolate. Chocolate is the answer. Chocolate (also random and leftover) took all these bits and made an awesome treat with them that definitely looks intentional. Go chocolate!
That light up ampersand in the background was my Valentine’s Day present from Ovi. It’s my favorite in the collection now! Oooohhhh sparkles. The chocolate bark was my little gift to him. Judging by how he was munching and making “mmmmmm” sounds while I was taking these photos, I think he approves. We’re simple folk.
- 1 pound semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon of flavorless oil to temper the chocolate (vegetable, canola, peanut)
- All the random stuff in your cupboards. Use up all of the things.
