A few basics that taste great, fill you up, and are affordable – and impress friends in your early 20’s. One can do so much better than a blue box of powdered cheese!

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 large sweet onion, finely chopped
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp garlic (about 3 cloves), diced
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 cusp whole milk
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 8 ounces (2 cups) sharp cheddar, grated
  • 16 ounces macaroni
