  • 1.25 cup sugar
  • 115g unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 3 L eggs at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract/essence
  • 1.50 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 0.50 cup buttermilk (make your own: 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp vinegar/lemon juice)
  • gel colorant (I use Wilton)
  • 150g unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup sifted icing sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp room temperature milk
