Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chana dal/bengal gram/cholar dal
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, peeled
  • 1.5 teaspoons oil + 1/2 teaspoon oil.
  • 2 red dry chili pepper or 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • salt
  • 1 /2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • a fistful of your favorite fresh herbs
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • some extra virgin olive oil or hot chili oil
