This is another one of those recpes that once I make it I ask my hubby why I don't make it at least once a week. Ahhhh just another one to add to the rotation, which makes me think I need to make a master rotation list so that when I am in a dinner slump I can look at the list and bam Dinner Idea!! Sounds simple enough to do but its sticking with it that's the tough part.
Ok so once again I have been MIA... I am not going to lie this blogging thing is tough to keep up with...but I am back and ready with lots of recipes.. I might have been MIA from blogging but Not from the kitchen, I have diligently been taking pictures and documenting my cooking endeavors. First up is one of those recipes that I have probably pulled out of magazines a gajillion times.. And of cour
One of my favorite parts of subscribing to The Food Network magazine is the 50 Things to Make with ( fill in the blank...) section. Well September's issue did not disappoint, "Bacon" was the topic and of course I wanted to make all 50 right then and there, but come on that would be bacon overload... or would it?? Because really what can’t you do with bacon remember my pos
My beautiful flowers that were waiting for me when I woke up!!
So I am now officially on the wrong side of 30… half way to 40 really…I celebrated yet another year yesterday! This can’t be happening.. I remember thinking how old that must be and now I am here. Its been downhill all month too.. First it was the eyes, I had to get new glasses, as if I didn’t feel old enough the doc said “
With the summer winding down, and the colder weather coming in we have been trying to grill as much as possible. This is one of those oh my gosh what are we going to eat for dinner type of recipes, and since I had some turkey on hand it was really a no brainer. Well the burger idea was a no brainer but what kind of burger was another story. We had just h
I am a big fan of comfort food, as you may have gathered from some of the recipes on this blog. One of my favorite comfort foods is pretty much anything to do with a potato really, because lets be honest they are just so fluffy and creamy and of course yummy! Now as a kid I remember my mother making this dish but mostly for special occasions and I can see why as it is a bit labor inten
Back in July my hubby and I went up to Maine for a wonderful weekend of camping , filled with good food, great new and old friends, and lots of adventure. My bff and her hubby had invited us to a weekend at the New England Outdoor Center in Millinocket, Maine, never heard of it… its a tiny town 5000 strong, with beautiful mountains, lovely lakes, and some pretty amazing white water rafting.
I am extremely lucky I live right down the street from a wonderful Farmers Market that I frequent often, from its opening in April until pumpkin season in November. I love picking out potatoes that still have the dirt on them, and the oh so delicious butter sweet corn, that grows 1/2 mile down the road from my house in their corn patch. I love going without much of a plan to see whats good tha
Summer time to me means grillin and chillin! When of course its not 100 degrees and humid out…One of our favorite things to grill is shrimp, it’s so fresh and light on hot summer days. There are so many great recipes for grilled shrimp it was hard to decide which one to make. Since I was going to make grilled veggies I wanted something light to go along. I walked into the kitchen and the limes w
This has got to be one of my favorite comfort foods, and if I could I would probably eat it at least once a week. My mother used to make it all the time growing up maybe that's why I love it so much. We have had some very rainy days around here and this is one of those comfy yummy recipes that is easy to make for a weeknight meal. This is also one of those recipes that you can play around wi
Things have been a bit hectic over here so dinner has either been throwing something on the grill or something quick in the oven. Of course with all this crazy weather ( tornadoes 50 miles away in Western Mass) that we have been getting as soon as you decide to grill, a freak storm comes in and bam... Thunderstorms. So this night was no different, we made sure we had charcoal and were all se
Once again back to the Rachel Ray’s Look and Cook book, I think this has been our most used cookbook this month. This is at least recipe number 2 or 3 from this book, our first one was the awesome Artichoke and Spinach Mac and Cheese.
The weather last week was awful for Spring with quite a chill in the air like a cool crisp fall morning. So that meant a toss up on what to make except it
Over Chrismakuh I exchange gifts with the girls in my office, we do secret santa, and this year I lucked out, not only did I get a lot of cute little stuff I also received Rachel Rays cookbook, Look and Cook. I love it, there are so many great recipes, some that we have already made over and over again because we love them so much!! There are several recipes that we earmarked to make and t
I love making fajitas and tacos at home and of course would always reach for those already made kits. You know the ones.... shells, seasoning and taco sauce. How easy right? That is until you read or try to read the ingredients list... Half of the words are unpronounceable.. is that a word?? So I looked up a recipe and realized that it is so easy to make it at home and it tas
Ok so once again I have been MIA.... this time for good reason... trying to figure out this whole allergy thing. After lots of tests, lots of poking and lots of prodding.. I AM NOT ALLERGIC TO FOOD!! Well that is not to the extent that they thought I was, I am still sensitive to certain foods and still having some of the same symptoms but am able to control them and not feel like I am di
So once again I have been MIA from the blogoshpere.... This time around it's because I haven't been able to eat that much lately...Over the past two weeks I have been having trouble swallowing, and extreme pain in my chest that I thought was heartburn. I have had heartburn forever and was diagnosed a long time ago with GERD, a hiatal hernia and a Schatzki's ring.. what ever that is... All thin

I was once again trying to figure out what to make for dinner, when I did an inventory of what we had. Hmmmmm besides some leftovers that were going to be lunch for work the next day, I had frozen shrimp and two potatoes. So I hit goggle with a shrimp and potatoes search and the first to pop up was the queen of butter Paula Deans recipe for Shrimp Stuffed Potatoes. Now the irony in this is that
I am so excited to be hosting my first giveaway, thanks to the great folks at MyBlogSpark and General Mills for providing me and a lucky reader with this great prize pack (below) consisting of one package of Progresso® Lemon Pepper Panko and an autographed copy of Michael Chiarello's Bottega cookbook. One of our new years resolutions was to eat healthier, not that we didn't before but you know how it goes.... So tonight was fish but I wasn't sure what to make, instead of doing the usual Baked Cod or Cod in Parchment Paper I decided to make some Fish Tacos. I love the freshness of these, and the flavor combo’s. Of course you can add or sub in what ever condiments you want
We love Scallops but find them on the pricey side so whenever they go on sale we snatch some up. Lucky for us that was the case a few weeks ago. My method of cooking them is usually the same, pan seared and this night was no different. There is just something about the crusty outside and the soft pillowy inside when you pan sear them. YUM!! The last time we had them I made Scallops wit
With Hanukkah coming early this year.. i.e.: right after Thanksgiving.. we have been quite busy. Add into the mix that we were leaving on a road trip to Florida on December 13th for 10 days to go to Disney World, I felt like I had no time to do anything certainly not cook. So here is what we have been up to instead..
In our house we celebrate Chrismukkah a mixture of both holidays, we did
So after ohhh 2 years we have finally opened our deep fryer that we received for our wedding. Sorry to whoever sent it to us… I can’t remember who you are but trust me we’re grateful… Is it bad that we haven’t put it away since the unveiling a few weeks ago, but seriously if my hubby had his way we would make something in it every night!! He has become the4 official fry cook and has ma
Sunday football is my favorite day of the week, both me and my hubby have fantasy football teams and are glued to the our TV and computers checking our scores and rooting for our teams. We love to have people over to watch the games and of course eat. I love to make snacks for us to nibble on all day and for some reason I have had a hankering for toasted ravioli, and thought why not…
My husband and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary a few weeks ago,wow I can’t believe it two years, seems like just yesterday. I know how cliched that sounds but really it does, and my bff Karen is getting married in a few days, so all this planning has brought it all back. It was a beautiful fall day in the Berkshires and I would do all over again in a heartbeat!!! Here’s a little peek
When this rainy fall weather arrives I like to bake, I love the smells of fall cooking and baking to fill the kitchen. I ran across this recipe on Allrecipes and it looked like a must do. So before I started some fall cleaning ( Yuck) I whipped up a batch of Snickerdoodle cookies and stuck them in the oven... What a great way to clean the house with the smell of cookies bakin
I love Hot Sauce! There is said it, I can add it to just about anything, except dessert that is! So when wondering what to make for dinner the other night I thought Buffalo Chicken….but with all this rainy, windy weather we have had I wanted something a little more…. comforting. So Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese it is. I knew that most recipes that I found would be quite fattening so I tried t

One of our favorite comfort meals in our house is Sloppy Joes, and one that my hubby loves to make. So last week he made a big ole batch of it for us. We kicked of Sunday football with Sloppy Joe sandwiches.. But why is this post titled Stuffed Peppers than, because I have already blogged about Sloppy Joes and this is a great way to use up the leftovers. I have said many a time, that I
I have never been to a state fair... mainly because I always thought Massachusetts didn't have one... Boy was I wrong... Not only do we have a state fair, we are joined by Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine for a whopping six state fair called The Big E in Western Mass. We first heard about the fair last year and even though it lasts for 3 weeks, we of course never mad
I am lucky enough to live in an area with a lot of farmers markets and vegetable stands. My next store neighbor even grows fresh blueberries all summer long, very convenient for me. So on an unexpected day off for both me and the hubby we decided to take a drive and get some fried clams down in Newport, Rhode Island. Along the way we stopped at one of my favorite vegetable stands in Little C
I just got back from a whirlwind filled weekend getaway in South Beach Miami. We went down for a Bachlorette celebration, for my best friend Karen. We stayed at the lovely Eden Roc, right on the beach and had an amazing time!! Our hotel happened to be next to the famed Fountainbleau Hotel, and lucky for us they have fabulous restaurants in the Fountainbleau one of which was Gotham Stea
One of my favorite side dishes during the summer is grilled veggies. Me and the hubby love going over to the local farmers market which happens to be right down the street. This time around we picked up some peppers, onions and of course zucchini . These go really well with some grilled chicken or steak or really anything that you throw on the grill. We served this with Grilled Shrimp and it w
Living so close to Boston and the ocean this is a very popular dish on many restaurant menus around us. The recipe uses cod fish which for some reason we call scrod. I guess they say scrod is a young cod fish... Either way it is a white flaky fish with a slight sweetness to it. It also happens to be a favorite at our house, sometimes we even stuff it with some crab meat and serve it with a
You will continue to hear me say this all summer but I love grilling.. and all the things that go along with it!! So to go along with my Grilled Shrimp I made a little Mango Salsa to spice things up. The sweet and spicy of the salsa goes really well with the shrimp. I have to admit that I still find Mangoes intimidating... I have a hard time picking ripe ones but nonetheless I love the flavor,
The one thing I love about summer most is the grilling... Not only does it get me out of my kitchen but the food is oh so yummy!! We had quite the hot and humid spell in New England at the beginning of the week so there was no way I was slaving over the hot stove or oven. Since we are big fans of grilled shrimp at our house, grilled shrimp was on the menu the other night. I served these with s
As I have written before my hubby works most nights and that means I am on my own for dinner. Some times he makes it home at a reasonable hour and I wait others I'm just too hungry so I eat solo. The other night I was really torn wasn't really craving anything until I opened the fridge and saw the leftover roasted chicken from the other night and some cheese....Quesadillas it was!!! I love Mexican
Talk about having a big breakfast to get the day started... They don't mess around over at Persy's Place, which according to the Boston Globe has the Largest Breakfast and Lunch menu in New England. Not only do they have all the usual suspects.. eggs, pancakes, and waffles they also serve hard to find breakfast favorites such as Catfish, Rainbow Trout and Finnan Haddie a Scottish dish with s
We love Shrimp at our house, but sometimes I feel like we just go for the same old recipes all the time. So this time I decided to just wing it with things we had on hand and see what I came up with. Oh boy was I glad I did, this dish came out so good!! I can always tell when my hubby is happy because I get the ol' high-five from him when he likes a meal. This meal got two high-fives, so it
As you have heard me say before my hubby bought himself a charcoal grill/smoker back in March and has pretty much used it once or twice a week since. So on a trip to the bookstore I decided to check out the grilling cookbooks and pick one or two up for him. I picked up the Barbecue Bible by Steven Raichlen and he hasn't put it down since. Not that I'm complaining because we have been having some g
We love taco's at out house and I have been craving them all week. So when I remembered that I had some frozen taco meat in the freezer my plan was in full effect!! Then I realized that oopps I had no taco shells, and it dawned on me that I had shredded potatoes in the freezer and that taco casserole it would be.... If I do say so myself it was delicious So here is my version of Taco Cassero
Looks innocent doesn't it... Once you cut into it and the cheese slowly starts to ooze out its all over, at least for me it is. I am not what you would call a burger lover, but since we got a nice weather reprieve this weekend my hubby took advantage and we grilled. He decided to go for burgers, and when he told me they would be stuffed with cheese, bacon and caramelized onions how could I s
So there may be a theme to some of the recipes on this blog.... we love bacon, you will see it in a few of the recipes on this blog, after all it really does make everything better. My hubby has a few favorite dinner choices and one of them is Chicken Teriyaki, our go to marinade when not homemade is Soy Vay Very Very Teryaki, which is oh so good. So when I decided to make Chicken
The other day I had planned out dinner in advance, which as much as I try to do for the week it never ever works that way. I even remembered to take the chicken out of the freezer the night before to defrost and made it home to marinate it and not have to rush to get dinner on the table. Then I realized I forgot to plan a veggie... I peeked in the fridge and found a handful of green beans and half
My hubby has been working nights lately so you know what that means... it's dinner for one. Sometimes I will make a full meal and wait for hubby to get home and then we can eat together. There are some nights when he gets home to late, so for nights like that I turn to something simple like this salad. The weather has been getting warmer and this is the perfect way to get ready for summer. I made
There is a great restaurant not to far from us in Providence, RI named Al Forno , they are known for their baked pasta's and not taking reservations..... You have to get there early or be prepared to have a drink or two at the bar. But let me tell you it is worth it, not only are the pasta's amazing they make seasonal tarts that are to die for. So whats the next best thing to eating t
I must start this post with a disclaimer that I did not get to finish cooking this recipe as I burnt my hand... only about the 5th time I have done this. Anyway..... For years my girlfriends and I would get together every Tuesday night at my friend Erica's house for dinner or as we called it "Dinner Night". We would get a few bottles of wine and eat drink and be merry, until our lives got too hect
Spring has finally sprung, and the grill is out for good now. Oh wait did I say spring.. more like summer with it hitting 87 degrees the other day, which is warm for New England in April. I love this time of year because it means less time in the kitchen cooking and more time outdoors!! There are so many yummy things to do on the grill it can be hard to decide. Since my hubby has been painstakingl
The new grill.......Let me start by saying that you will soon see lots of BBQ recipes here since my hubby just got his dream grill..... It has a smoker attached!!!! The BBQ obsession began long ago.. When my hubby and I first got together we soon realized that we both loved BBQ. So when we decided to take a month long road trip for our Honeymoon, and realized that we were going to be driving
We haven't been cooking alot at home these past few days, my hubby's grandmother is sick and we have been eating dinner with the family a lot so I thought I would post about a giveaway I won a few weeks ago from Simply Life for Chobani Yogurt, and boy was I excited!! The hubby and I had just started to eat Greek Yogurt and could not wait to try some other flavors. We had tried the Vanilla and Pi
