I am definitely a morning person. I get my workout and all my errands done before 1pm. At least I try. Around 3pm, after grumbling to myself why I am always so busy , I take my 2nd shower, get my energy back, get hubby’s and puppy’s dinner ready and head to my dance practice. Whewwww……definitely no room for a kid for now. I have been doing lots of swimming and The Dailey Me
If you have a few pantry items like ketchup, rice vinegar and brown sugar, you can make this delicious asian dish in no time. I got this recipe from my thai cooking class many years ago….(but I think it’s chinese…?!?) I like this dish with Tofu but my husband gets hungry again in half an hour after he eats tofu, so I made fish version here. (Used Tilapia. I buy from Costc
Back in my home country, we eat rice, soup and fish for breakfast. But my husband who is from Kansas doesn’t quite understand that….so I have to come up with breakfast ideas all the time – not that I can heat up leftover fish from last night… I usually get up 30 mins earlier than my husband, pack what we call, a ‘snack pack’-various veggies with hummus dip, frui
Ingredients Fish of your choice (I like to use ‘thin’ white fish like trout or tilapia. I used rainbow trout for this recipe) Vegetables of your choice (I used sliced red pepper, snow peas and shiitake mushrooms but you can use shredded carrots, cabbages, bok choy, bean sprouts…any veggies you would like! But make sure you add shiitake mushrooms – I think they add
Hope everyone had an awesome new year’s eve and is starting out 2013 great. We went to dinner with a few friends and were on our couch in PJs by 10pm. Best kind of new year’s eve. We still have Christmas tree and the house all lit up….I really don’t want to take it down… Is it really wrong to have Christmas light all year round? I will take it down when we get egged.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I’m still rubbing my food coma belly…. Happy Holidays from Christina, Buggie and Coconut!
The ladies in my hula practice love food. We always talk about food, restaurants and recipes and we love to bring some munchies when we practice. One Saturday, very hungry saturday, I was just concentrating on my dance….while the girls were digging into these very tempting looking biscuits. Me being on my ‘Carb Cycle’ diet ( – this will be whole another post. I basically c
My husband sometimes makes fun of me saying I’m a Korean girl who loves country music, studies Bollywood, Tahitian, Hula and West African dance, who is married to a white man. He says I don’t make sense….but I say I’m a ‘worldly’ woman. I sure got this free spirit from my dad who is a surgeon, traveled all around the world after his medical school. He is in his
In Korea, we have pumpkin soup called ‘Hobak Bumbuk’…. Each region has their own styles and this chunky, chewy and thick one is from my region, south-east part of Korea where I grew up. (I speak a strong dialect). Last night, I had a major craving for it. Of course, my food craving always hits me at night….sigh. Me being not so talented in Korean cooking, I called up my mom
When trader joe’s has halloween Joe Joe’s cookies (which are addictive BTW), I know it’s October indeed. We had a good ‘hot’ summer so without lingering to end of summer, I can move on to a fall…..My Ugg boots are out, my baggy sweatshirt that I saved for the holiday season’s weight gain is out too ready to tackle it’s duty. And I’m ditching th
I grew up with 2 older sisters and my mom has 4 sisters. So guess what happens when 2 generations of ladies gather together. Non-stop beauty talk. My mom used to say, you can skip brushing your teeth but do not forget putting eye cream. ( I have been using eye cream since I was 19 years old.) So I’m going to talk beauty today including my family’s beauty secret. Sorry guys, eye muffs
Do you think of your next meal when you are at the gym? I do. We went to Whistler, Canada last summer – while my husband was at his ice hockey camp, I hit the gym. I’m on my spin bike, flipping through food magazine and think of my next meal….And then I saw this recipe….I was not sure if it was my sweat or my drooling that was dripping down on my shirt. I took out my phone
I grew up in a place where I can walk to the fish market. ‘Morning walk’ to the fish market with my mom is one of the fondest memories of my childhood. In Korea, most fish (unless it’s used in stews) is served as whole so when I see a menu that has ‘whole fish’, I don’t even read the description, I just order. Something so simple, and primal about whole fishR
My friends, fellow dancer/teacher I love dearly, Aparna Khanolkar and Lisa Beck has this wonderful organization called Grace, Power and Beauty. Their offerings use the ancient Indian healing art of Ayurveda combined with music and dance, retreats, classes, workshops, delicious recipes and more. And this is my new favorite smoothie recipe from these lovely ladies. (Adapted from Aparna & Lisa
I have been preparing for Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Parade (It’s a unique Santa Barbara celebration, similar to a few others such as Mardi- Gras in New Orleans ) in my dance + drum group, Panzumo for last 8 weeks. Had an amazing and successful show this past weekend. During that 8 weeks, I have been trying to eat healthier, worked out regularly and of course danced a lot. (I did splurge
I met my friend, Alisa in my first year of culinary program. She was studying to be a dietitian and needed to take basic culinary classes. When I walked into the classroom (kitchen, in this case) I spotted her and I put down my knife kit right next to her. I was one of the older students…and I really didn’t feel like working next to the kids who just graduated from high schools..(no of
