Gluten-Free Dutch Oven Cheddar and Beer Bread

  When it comes to developing new gluten-free recipes in my kitchen, I must admit, I enjoy playing with bread recipes. Although I’ve had a fair amount of success with cakes, like the Devil’s Food Cake, I do find it more difficult to get the right texture when it comes to cake. Gluten-Free Layered Carrot & Cheesecake Cake

  This past weekend we celebrated Easter, as did many of you, but I also celebrated a birthday! Gluten-free Chocolate Mint Doughnuts

  I’m not really one to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. I have no Irish background. We never celebrated as kids. The extent of our ‘celebration’ is wearing green, and eating something green.   I have had my eye on Hi-Hat Cupcakes for years already. What is a Hi-Hat cupcake, you ask? Gluten-free Kickin’ Cajun Chicken Alfredo

Years ago, when my husband and I were dating, we used to go to a restaurant that served a great chicken Alfredo dish with a kick of Cajun seasonings. 14 years, 2 kids, and a celiac disease diagnosis later, eating out at restaurants is not high on our priority list anymore. Gluten-Free Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cookies

Peanut butter and chocolate. The two go hand-in-hand. If my peanut butter isn’t paired with jam, it is usually paired with chocolate. These cookies actually pack a triple peanut factor, since they have peanut butter, chopped peanuts, and peanut butter chips baked into them. The recipe for these chewy cookies comes from my mother-in-law. She baked these cookies using regular flour for my kids

Keep the Kids Busy with Sidewalk Paint

Summer holidays are half over for us, and although the kids have had some lo-o-o-ong days, they haven’t begun to sing the “I’m Bored” song yet. When the kids did start to get a bit restless, I mixed up three batches of this Sidewalk Paint and they were busy for a few more hours. I bought some paint containers with lids and large brushes from … Continue reading →

Gluten-free Cream Puffs

I will admit it now…I never mastered making cream puffs before I baked gluten-free. I always had trouble with them not rising properly, or with them staying soggy in the middle. My Grandma was really good at making them though, and she’d whip up a batch if they were coming over for supper, filled with pudding or whipped cream. These cream puffs are awesome though. … Continue read

Gluten-free Oatmeal Blender Pancakes

TGIF! We’ve made it to another weekend! On the weekends I love having breakfast that does not consist of cold cereal. Nearly every weekend, we have pancakes. I do, however, try to change it up a bit, adding fruit one time, chocolate chips another. Topping them with homemade syrup, or apple sauce. We’re not usually eating the EXACT same thing each weekend. But, I also … Continue r

Gluten-free Chocolate Pudding Cake

You’ve all been in this situation before. The one where you need dessert FAST. Maybe a friend popped by unexpectedly, and you’d like to serve something. Maybe you need a chocolate fix, and we know you have to satisfy that one fairly quickly, or it’ll bother you forever. Or, maybe you just like warm cake with a built in mocha flavoured sauce. Whatever the reason, … Continue

Friday Finds ~ Second-hand Scores {July 6, 2012}

Well, it’s no secret, when the kids are home from school, schedules and routines change! In the two weeks that the kids have been out of school, I haven’t made it to one garage sale. That, however, doesn’t mean that I don’t make it to the thrift store! We went out to visit family last week, and my husband and I left the kids with … Continue reading →

Gluten-free Play Dough

When your child is diagnosed with Celiac disease, one thing that may slip your mind, as you’re removing the Oreos and Teddy Grahams from your cupboard, is the other non-food items that your child comes into contact with that could be making them ill. One of those seemingly harmless, but very dangerous, items is play dough. All homemade and commercially available play dough contain wheat R
