Meet the newest member of our family! Emilio Andres arrived on my scheduled Cesarean date of May 13 weighing in at 7lb 5 oz. Labor and delivery was easier the second time around because I already knew that I was having the Cesarean versus going through the anticipation of labor on any given day. Plus, Eric and I were able to schedule childcare for Elena and had my in-laws around
First, I want to thank all of my wonderful foodie friends that participated in cupcake's virtual baby shower yesterday. Please make sure to visit Eva Bakes for all of the scrumptious cupcake posts for my sweet little cupcake. He will be here sometime next week!Wow. It seems like it was just yesterday that I had announced my sweet little "cookie" aka Elena was born. I still remember the day when
Happy Friday! I know it's been forever since I have updated my neglected food blog. It has been a few hectic weeks and I'm finally getting caught up here. We recently celebrated Elena's 1st year birthday and baptism, and I plan on sharing some of my favorite birthday pictures next week. And more importantly, cupcake hasn't made an appearance just yet, we have 10 more days to go until my sch
There are a few desserts that my husband and I typically like to always order whenever we dine out at restaurants. There's the sinfully gooey pizookie (giant cookie cooked in a mini pizza pan), a warm slice of apple pie (ala mode is a must for me), or the creamy and indulgent cheesecake (because making a regular size one at home would require fat buffet pants for the rest of the month
Happy Virtual Baby Shower day to my dear sweet friend, Nikki, from Seeded at the Table! I absolutely love my wonderful and supportive food blogging community and when my friends, Jessica and Kelsey, invited a group of food, craft and life bloggers to create something in the theme of "Sweet Southern Boy" - I couldn't resist! Nikki like myself is expecting her second child this coming May, an
Springtime has to be my favorite season of them all. The blooming flowers, spring flowers and growing gardens, and the fantastic sunny weather. It's practically intoxicating...that I might have neglected my little food blog for a bit. Sorry friends, but it's been a busy week here at Casa Regueiro. We are knee deep in nesting mode in preparation for cupcake to arrive, and I have 3 wee
Wishing your Easter is decorated with LOVE, PEACE and the Joy of SPRING! With Love from, Krystal, Eric, Elena & Cupcake
Can you believe that this beautiful Spring month of March is slowly coming to an end, but at least we have an awesome holiday of Easter to celebrate this coming weekend, too. The crazy photo-taking mommy me, couldn't resist buying Elena some bunny ears at Target from the dollar bin. We had a little bit of trouble taking pictures with Santa, and I absolutely refuse for her to take any pictures
Oh happy day, it's officially Spring season! While in some parts of the US, it may still feel like winter - I absolutely love living in SoCal where our winters never really see snow. This past weekend, we (or really just my husband) had worked on our yard. I have been wanting to plant new perennial flowers in the front yard to improve our curb appeal and mainly to spruce up the outside of t
Do you know what day it is today? It's March 14, otherwise known as Pi Day not to be confused with National Pie Day, which is celebrated on January 23. Yes, I'm totally math geeking out today because I'm celebrating a Greek symbol “p” which is used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter which is approximately 3.14159. My
Did the daylight savings time change mess up your schedule? I was really hoping that it wouldn't mess up our napping and sleep schedule for Elena. Day 1 she was awesome, and she woke up at her usual time and had a typical happy go-lucky day. But for some odd reason by Day 2, she was out of whack and something happened. She started teething again, her top two teeth are cutting and she is not on
Breakfast during the week is one of the easiest meals that I love to prepare for myself. Most often, I have two breakfasts - the first one early in the morning before Elena's morning bottle and maybe 2 hours later of something with a little more substance. Typically it's oatmeal, a bowl of cereal or just a glass of orange juice and later on maybe eggs with toast or warmed tortillas with nutell
Happy Friday and happy first day of March! It seems that I'm a creature of habit right now. I have been enjoying a mix of fresh berries for breakfast/lunch/snack and sometimes over my dessert. I always know it's Elena's afternoon feeding time when I start watching my episode-athon of Sex and the City. I have been slathering a bit of Elena's lavender bedtime lotion at night because I love th
I can't believe this month is almost over and Easter is around the corner. Once all the Valentine's decorations were off the shelves from the stores, Easter basket galore, Cadbury eggs and marshmallow bunnies have filled it's spot. It's one of those weird years that Easter comes early, but it is a nice reminder that Spring is almost here, too. Actually this is my personal reminder that I
Is it Friday already? I can't believe it's the last Friday of February and March is practically around the corner. Eric and I finally started talking details about Elena's 1st year birthday and baptism plans, and it's high time to start prepping for her big day. Next week she will be turning ten months, and I will have 2 months until her birthday. YIKES! My sweet ba
No matter how you look at it birthdays are wonderful milestones in your life. It's funny when I was younger like in my kiddo days, I absolutely loved birthdays. The silly excuse to eat cake, have an awesome party all in your honor and the insane amount of presents from your friends and family. Nowadays, my view on birthdays are "UGH, I'm getting old!" or "OMG, it's here again - another year h
Happy Meatless Monday! I had the most fantastic birthday weekend ever, and celebrated the big thirty plus four. My mom had stayed over our house for the past week and helped me out with Elena. There's nothing like having your mom around the house to help you with little things since I'm moving a little bit slower these days. (26 weeks pregnant!) I was able to get some much needed errands do
Valentine's Day is right around the corner and it's not a typical holiday that Eric and I usually celebrate. We don't need a day to tell each other that we love each other, when we do that every day of the year. ;-) Plus, we are too busy celebrating my birthday which is in a couple of days. I already got a sweet early birthday gift of a much needed pre-natal massage. It was absolutely perfect
Hello February! I love this month for so many reasons. Superbowl is this upcoming weekend. I absolutely love the entertaining side of Superbowl, the fantastic foods, half-time show and the funny commercials. Plus, the main reason is because my birthday is in a week and we sorta celebrate it all month long. I'm really looking forward to my mom coming up and spending some time with
One of my biggest gripes about being pregnant...the no eating sushi rule. UGH. Something about the raw sushi being bad for a pregnant woman. Plus, there's a big foodie list of "Do not eat foods while pregnant," which I think is unreasonable because I think it's totally unfair to tell a pregnant woman what NOT to eat. However, the super duper awesome stretchy maternity full
True story: January is official start date of citrus season at our house and our lovely Meyer lemon and Valencia oranges are at full capacity right now. This past week I took my morning workout outside and plucked a huge bucket of oranges and lemons off the trees. While picking the oranges from the tree, I heard a woman's voice from behind my house asking if she could have so
Sometimes I get hit with intense cravings for certain foods. For a couple weeks now, I have been craving a maple bar donut. By the way, did you know in the east coast - they call them Long Johns? Sooo bizarre! I have made several big hints telling my husband, it would be his best intention that since he was going out, that maybe he should buy me a donut. Eric, being the wonderful husband that he i
Yay it's Friday! I love LOVE love our lazy weekends at home. I love staying in my pj's all day watching endless episodes of CSI, or How I Met Your Mother or whatever movie marathon that Eric and I decide on. I absolutely love seeing Elena cuddle up with her daddy when she's sleepy. I love taking naps on the couch with Elena because she smells so good, like my precious baby. Family filled weeken
There are many simple pleasures in life that make you go hmmmmmmm. They are unexpected gifts of life that make you smile and enjoy that moment for as long you want. Things like seeing your baby crawling around the house and on the verge of taking her first steps. We have an ottoman set up in the center of our living room, and I usually have to put my slippers on top of it so Elena won
TGIF!! Don't you just love Fridays? It's probably my favorite day of the week because I know it leads up to the nice family-filled weekend. I look forward to the wonderful Saturday breakfast that Eric prepares of my favorite pumpkin pancakes. Plus, he's a pretty awesome husband because lets me sleep in a little bit extra, too. I love walking in on him in the kitchen while he is dancing or
I will admit one of the meals that I'm most lazy to prepare is lunch. Most times I prepare myself a decent size breakfast and instead of lunch I snack on cheese and crackers, fruit or sometimes I'll prepare myself a grilled cheese. I really try to manage my time by preparing meals during Elena's naptime or playtime, but I usually reserve that time for making dinner or catching up on my trashy real
Well, 2013 you sneaked up on me. All of my Christmas decorations are finally put away, and Valentine decorations have gone up, too. Yet, I'm still trying to fathom how it's been 10 years that I have graduated college. For reals? And more importantly how is it that in four short months, Elena will be a one year old and soon after that we will be welcoming her baby brother in 5 months! Oh.my.goodnes
2012 is slowly dwindling down in these next couple of days. With the new year upon us, it's always nice to stop and reflect upon the recent year. I can honestly say that 2012 has been nothing short of an amazing year for Eric and myself. We welcomed our sweet daughter, this past April and she's been keeping us busy these past 8 months. I also gave my final notice at my job to become a
Eric and I are happy to announce we are having a boy! I had dreams of blue the night before my anatomy scan, and I was happy to see I was right because I was having a completely different pregnancy compared to Elena's. Eric is over the moon happy that he isn't outnumbered at our house. We're so excited for the newest member of our family to join us in 2013. Now the search begins for boy names!
Last Friday's events in Newtown, Connecticut had hit a hard knot in my stomach and broke my heart into millions of pieces. Being a new parent, I was deeply saddened by the news and held my sweet daughter a little bit tighter ever since then. Plus, I have been super emotional with this second pregnancy and any little thing can trigger a river of tears from me, too. As a mother you know that every m
I can't believe that Christmas is only 6 days away. Are you still out shopping or enjoying the holidays with your family? Thankfully, I don't have much Christmas shopping to do because Eric and I are playing it low-key this year. We bought Elena one activity toy where she can place the shapes in the box and that's the only present from us that we have under our Christmas tree. She got a ton of pre
Getting out and shopping during the holiday season is a little bit hectic right now. Maybe because there are 12 days left until Christmas! WOW! Luckily, I have chosen to avoid the evening crowds and shop a little earlier in the day besides I have been working on plenty of homemade edible gifts for my family and friends. But it's always nice to get out and do some retail shopping and peruse the s
I will shamefully admit there are shortcuts in the kitchen that I like to take. I love Kraft Macaroni and Cheese as a back-up dinner when I don't feel like cooking a meal...it takes 10 minutes to prepare and serve. I love Texas Toast...the one from the freezer section. We love TJ's pumpkin pancake mix, it's the foolproof way to make pancakes during those lazy weekends. I love boxed potatoes au gra
Hello my wonderful readers. Please do not fret and don't drop me from your reader list. It's been awhile since my last food post but I'm still alive and I have been busy cooking away in the kitchen. Actually, Eric and I are excited to announce that we are expecting baby #2! Sometime around May 18th next year, our sweet little Elena will be a big sister! EEKS! We are beyond thrilled to be adding an
One more day till the best eating holiday day ever...Thanksgiving!! Well, to be fair all holidays are the best eating days, but Thanksgiving may be my number one favorite. This past weekend, Eric and I hosted our annual PALS-giving and I prepared my go-to Good Eats Roast Turkey. My college friends did a fantastic job with bringing some tasty sides and yummy desserts to go along with our ma
How is Thanksgiving already next week? Oh.my.goodness. More importantly, I have my annual Friends-giving this weekend with my college PALS that I have been busy prepping for because it's the one holiday that I love spending with my second family. We plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family this year so my mom can have all 8 of her grand-kids together in one place. My three younger
Happy Friday! Every year I tell myself that I need to get better about buying candy for Halloween. The ratio to kids to candy leftover is always off. We didn't take Elena trick or treating but passed out candies instead. We had about 4 or 5 groups of kids visit us on Halloween and we were left with half a bucket of candy. Secretly, I had purposely bought a large bag of Reese's Peanut
I'm so happy that the Elections are over, and my FB feeds can resume to some normalcy. Regardless of who you voted for, be thankful to be an American. Let's move forward....like to holiday mode. I'm already planning my Christmas baking extravaganza with my girlfriend. There's a list of goodies that we must bake up! Plus, with all this colder weather finally happening in SoCal. I can start bakin
Wow, November is finally here. There are 53 days left until Christmas is here. OMG. Plus, you can officially appreciate the holiday decorations at all the stores and start cranking those holiday tunes. Or most likely you can start planning your Thanksgiving menu and start dreaming about all those holiday carbs. I'm a complete sucker for the holiday feasting and the countless holiday get-togethers
I am so deliriously happy that today is Friday. It has been one of the longest weeks that I have experienced as a mommy. My husband has been away all week long at a work conference in Texas and Elena and I are so looking forward to having him back home. The awesome upside to being single mom for the week: I had the entire King bed to myself. I ate whatever I wanted for dinner like som
This is my new favorite recipe for Pumpkin bread. I have been itching to try something new since my go-to recipe was the Starbucks Pumpkin Bread because it was utterly drool-worthy. This new recipe makes for one really good pumpkin bread but you will have to click over and check it out at Sunny Side Up. I'm guest posting for my sweet friend, Jessica, since she's super duper busy wit
Breakfast for dinner is one of my go-to meals whenever the case of I need dinner on the table in 15 minutes or less. We have had eggs and rice, waffles and bacon and a bowl of cereal for dinner sometimes. Perhaps the never ending Indian summer that SoCal has prevents me from cooking hearty oven-baked dishes like enchiladas, lasagna, and roasted chicken. Or perhaps I'm stuck entertaining my daughte
Happy Friday! It's been a couple days since I have had a recipe post, but I have been busy in the kitchen prepping away baby food. I can't believe the time has finally come and I have introduced solids to my sweet five month old baby. Elena is quite the avid eater in the mornings and loves her bowl of oatmeal, along with her sippy cup of milk. Yes, we have bypassed bottles and gone straight to
Happy Virtual Shower day to Jessica at My Baking Heart and her fiance, Chris! Her big day is almost here and I'm so happy to be part of the awesome group of food bloggers to celebrate this wonderful new chapter in her life. Cuban empanadas are one of my many favorite appetizers to munch on. Cuban empanadas can also be called pastelitos which is spanish for cuban pastries. We
Happy October and my first meatless Monday post in forever! I was happily delighted when DailyBuzz Food gave me an opportunity to work with Rice Select for the Tastemaker program. The only catch, they would surprise me with a random rice product and I would have to prepare a cultural dish according to my selection. Luckily, I got one of my favorite selections and I have used this product severa
Happy Friday and last Friday of September! I can almost smell the crisp Fall and pumpkin-y scents of October, and already dreaming of all the Fall comfort foods that I want to make. Pumpkin bread, boeuf bourguignon , Pink Parsley's baked potato soup, and Macaroni and Cheesecake's Apple Pie Muffins to name a few on my list. However, I am crossing my fingers that this next heatwave will
I'm so happy that September is finally coming to an end and Fall is slowly creeping up. The ugly hot summer days need to disappear so I can start enjoying everything pumpkin and sweater weather days. I had my first pumpkin spice latte last week and it was a sip of heaven. Moreover, I'm in love with all the new Fall TV that is showing. Go On, The New Normal, and Revolution are a couple new shows th
Happy Friday and hello weekend! I have been fighting the ugliest summer cold and cough since the beginning of this month. I had been sick the first week of the month, and I got better, then my husband got sick, and then he got better...then I got it back again. It's not fun coughing throughout the night and having the sniffles all day long while tending to my almost 5 month daughter. I even los
