These are the dishes we made over the weekend, but I’m sure they’ll taste just as good any day of the week. First up, Saturday night, was this very simple pumpkin soup recipe, adapted from Epicurious. We used fresh pumpkin instead of canned, fresh ginger instead of powdered, and a small, almost whole piece of [...]
Balance. It can be a hard thing to do. It takes practice and concentration. When you are trying to balance everything in your life, you need to figure out what is most important to you and put everything into perspective. It might even mean changing some things around to make it all work. I am still concentrating on making it work for me.
I have always been a fan of easy dinners, especially since I am sometimes eating dinner alone. It is always more exciting and better making/sharing dinner with someone else! For me, easy dinners are defined as having few and/or on hand ingredients, and take little time to make. Here are some examples of easy dinners [...]
As I’ve mentioned before, I like listening to The Moth podcast. At the end of every podcast they say, “we hope you have a story-worthy week”. Lately, I’ve really been paying attention to what I spend my time doing and the interactions I’ve had and really try to have a “story-worthy” week. This past week [...]
What else is the weekend for if not hanging out with friends and drinking a couple of beers? And, what goes better with beer than pretzels? This is exactly what happened yesterday. It was a planned, semi-thought out gathering of friends. We had gone to the beer/wine/liquor store near us to pick up some drinks [...]
I know this should have been posted last week, but I honestly forgot all about it. We saw this sign and a lot (but not all of them had that koala sticker on the head). I think they should post these signs in San Francisco, too. One of the first places we went to was [...]
It’s been awhile…since I’ve updated the blog, both with posts and with the layout itself, but I am working on it. So far, you might have noticed that I changed the blog name to something more simple, Cake Sharing. I figured it was about time I got rid of the long, outdated name. This is … Continue reading »
I have finally recovered from our lovely Valentine’s celebration, so I bring you this Photo Friday! post on Sunday. There are some more nature pictures; these are from our Buena Vista park hike last week and there are some photos from our trip up North, to Healdsburg, CA. From top to bottom: various views and … Continue reading »
Back from Portland and back to blogging. Continue reading »
We’re going to Portland tomorrow for a long weekend (’til Monday) so I am throwing this post together as a tribute/inspiration to what it’s all about a la Portlandia. (Okay, so this is really just a post about my favorite clips from the show/what we’ve been obsessing thinking about for the past couple of weeks … Continue reading »
We’re taking an extra day to celebrate St. Valentine. We’re spending the day together away from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. Or, you know, taking advantage of the ease of getting reservations to places a day early. Happy Valentine’s Day! Filed under: holidays Tagged: inspiration, lifestyle, San Francisco
A day in the life of a San Franciscan...a nature walk on one of the sunniest, warmest days of February... Continue reading »
What I’m liking this week… I’ve pretty much been into this for awhile now, but brown butter. It’s easy to make, and once you have some on hand, you might find yourself putting it in/on everything. Have some plain, boring pasta? Add brown butter. Roasted veggies? Add brown butter. Seriously, you can replace the butter … Continue reading »
It’s back! I intend to recap my week (or so) with photos every Friday. Since I’ve been “gone” for a while, this post will be longer than most. Enjoy! We cooked a lot of dinners at home over the past few months. This includes some pasta and roasted veggies and a lot of brown butter! … Continue reading »
I’ve decided to broaden the “What I’m Reading Wednesday” posts to just things that I am into right now, rather than limiting myself to articles or other things I’ve read that I have found interesting. Since it is a New Year, I’d like to start this post off with things that I’ve learned or have … Continue reading »
Sorry for not posting this earlier, but I have been busy (in a good way) with work and school. I am planning some recipes and taking pictures and will hopefully get back to a regular blogging schedule soon. I am also here to announce that I will have a guest post on here every so … Continue reading »
I know that it has been, like, FOREVER since I wrote one of these posts, so I will try my best to catch-up on all that I’ve been reading lately. First up (and if you see when this was written, you will see just how long it really has been) a note about remembering to … Continue reading »
I cannot believe it is the end of October already! This month flew by for me! I have catching up to do, and I will DEFINITELY do an October wrap-up post to cover what I missed; so sorry for not posting almost anything all month long. So, this month, for the foodie pen pals, Monica, … Continue reading »
(As I have sat on my butt on my day off not made time to edit these photos, I apologize for what could be a post full of blurry photos for a short post, but I did not want to miss another week.) Enjoy the week in review! First up, I made an apple tarte … Continue reading »
Just to start things off, I have to show you this awesome/weird product that the Japanese invented recently: (I mean really, what will they think of next?!) Now that you’ve watched that, here’s the reading entertainment for this week: Good news: there is a new food law in place in California that allows food to … Continue reading »
This month, I received my foodie pen pal package from Cat. In her note to me, she wrote that the maple syrup she sent me is from her family farm! She lives in Neversink, NY, which, according to Google Maps, is upstate somewhere. Looks like it is about 60 miles away (Northwest-ish) from Poughkeepsie, NY, … Continue reading »
This summer was filled to the brim with trips and food and sun and sand and music and rainbows and more food. Which is why I have a lot of catching up to do (again). This week, I will be recapping the end of my summer fun. Three weekends ago, (OMG has it been that … Continue reading »
This week I do not have much to share because I have been reading articles about things for school research and not reading so many “for fun” things. But here’s what I have read in my spare time that I enjoyed: For starters, I think it is important to know where the letters come from. … Continue reading »
