You know how you remember those recipes from when you were younger and you just HAVE to make them right away? That's what happened with these Ranch Seasoned Oyster Crackers.
I don't remember exactly what triggered the memory of this Oyster Crackers but it was during an evening home with Thomas and I immediately asked him if he remembered having them before and of course he looked at me like I was crazy. Whatever dude, whatever.
I tried to explain them to him but he just wasn't getting it.
So to be honest I was all about making them right then and there but I realized that Thomas had eaten all of the Oyster Crackers with his dinner and was not about to go to the store. That's when I put these crackers in my "don't forget to make theses" folder in my brain for when I went to the store next.
I had them on my list but I just hadn't looked for a recipe for them and I hadn't really taken the time to go to the store anyways.
Then I was flipping through my grandmother's recipe box the other night and I found not one but two recipes for Seasoned Oyster Crackers written on a few note cards! Ok, I have to go make them now because this is a sign haha.
Although I have to admit that I was just a tad nervous because Thomas doesn't like ranch.
Well, he doesn't like ranch dressing. haha I had my fingers crossed though that he'd still like these though because I do know that he has liked ranch flavored stuff in the past.
I crossed fingers worked because he did like then, actually he liked them so much that he didn't want to share them. I wasn't expecting that! haha.
So I figured I'd send them on for some taste testing as I do with a lot of the food I make.
Thomas was heading to his bosses house for a steamed oyster party so I packed up a huge bag of these Ranch Seasoned Oyster Crackers and I heard that they were gone within minutes.
I wasn't there to witness it but I'm going to trust him. ;) Who knows, he may have just sat in the car and ate them all before he got there.
So now for these Seasoned Oyster Crackers you're going to need a packet of ranch seasoning.
You're going to need 1 oz of dry seasoning but don't freak out when you see "Make 16 fl oz" on the packet. You need the whole packet, the "16 oz" is if you use it make ranch dressing. Ok you may not get confused but when I glanced at the packet it did take me a second haha.
Maybe I just had a moment..... ;)
Oh and if if you don't want to use the packet ranch mix, Ali from Gimme Some Oven had a recipe on her blog for homemade ranch seasoning mix. Her recipe makes a cup but you're not going to need all of that. Just a ounce is needed, save the rest for another recipe.
Speaking of ranch, just go ahead and embrace the fact you're going to have ranch breath and dig in.
