On New Year’s Eve in 2014, my family and I bought tickets to see an afternoon showing of Cirque du Soleil in San Francisco. Since they perform in a humongous tent and the city’s weather tends towards chilly and overcast throughout the entire year, we bundled up in our warmest jackets and gloves before driving to the performance.
When we pulled into the parking lot, the sun shone down without a cloud in the sky (truly a rare occasion!), so we wandered around the grassy baseball-themed park next to the pier before lining up behind the rest of the ticket holders.
